Suction Pumps

 

If you have trouble controlling oral or pulmonary secretions or if you have trouble swallowing, your physician may prescribe a suction pump for you.  Suction pumps can be used with an oral mouthpiece called a Yankauer. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Suction pumps are also used with suction catheters to help maintain good pulmonary hygiene for patients with a tracheostomy tube.  Endotracheal suctioning is an essential skill for any person caring for a person with a tracheostomy tube.  Respiratory Quality Services can provide both portable and stationary suction pumps with an order from your physician.  Our therapists are experts in training caregivers on suction technique!
